Convergence 25

Quarter Life Crisis

May 3-5, 2019

BOSTON, Massachusetts

  • How do I get to Boston?

Boston Logan Airport (Airport code BOS) is an international airport located in downtown Boston. It is about 15 minutes by car from the hotel (when traffic is light), and an hour by mass transit. Greyhound buses and Amtrak trains terminate at South Station, which is a similarly short drive to the hotel and venue.

  • What is mass transit like in the Boston area/to the venue?

Overall, Boston has a comprehensive mass transit system for its downtown areas, including subways and buses. From the main hotel to the venue, the #66 bus runs until 12:30 at night. It is a few minutes’ cab/rideshare ride after hours.

  • Is there a way to get directions for public transit?

The MBTA (subway and bus system) is integrated with Google Maps, Transit app, and Nextbus.

  • What are the official events?

We will have a pre-party on Thursday night, May 2nd, and the festivities will continue for those who wish to stay through Monday night at our venerable (21 years running!) weekly gothic night Ceremony, conveniently located down the street from Brighton Music Hall. For people who remain until Tuesday, you can continue your dark celebrations at the Attic, held at Machine in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood.

We are certain that many more unofficial group events outings will arise before May rolls around!

  • What are the age restrictions for official events?

The club events at Brighton Music Hall are 18+; our daytime events are all-ages.

  • Do the venue and hotel have accessibility?

Yes! Brighton Music Hall has one small step up at the entrance, and will also bring out a ramp as needed. There are wheelchair-accessible bathroom stalls as well.

At the Holiday Inn Boston-Brookline, the public entrance, guest rooms, elevators, public restrooms, exercise facility, business center and pool have accessibility, as do 4 meeting rooms. The hotel also provides Accessible Self-Parking, Van Accessible Self Parking, Ramp Access, Portable Bathtub Seats, Telephone with TDD, Visual Alarm/Alert in Guest Rooms, and Visual Alarm/Alert in Public Spaces.

  • What is parking like near the hotel and venue?

Overnight parking at the hotel is $45 a day, but street parking is also available in the area. Ample street parking is usually available near Brighton Music Hall, and is free after 8PM, and also on Sundays. There is a way to avoid paying $45 for overnight parking at the hotel. They have offered us a discounted rate of $11 as long as you don't park overnight and you get your ticket validated at the front desk. This is straightforward for anyone who doesn't have a room at the hotel. For those that do, the you can pay the $11 for the daily rate then move your car to a metered spot. You can leave your car on the street on Sundays. Just remember that meters turn on at 8AM on Monday.

  • Does the hotel have wi-fi?

Yes, it has free wi-fi for guests!

  • Where can I obtain food, alcohol, and other supplies?

Near both the hotel and venue, there are dozens of excellent restaurants, including vegetarian and vegan options. Coolidge Corner Wine and Spirits is located right across the street from a Trader Joe’s, which are both a few minutes’ walk from the official hotel. (Refrigerators are available from the hotel on request, so you can keep food in your room!) The CVS near the hotel is also open until midnight. There is also large liquor store right down the street from Brighton Music Hall. Please be smart and do not bring outside liquor into our venue! Bar drinks are reasonably priced in Boston anyway.

  • What are the marijuana laws in Boston?

Adults 21 years of age or older are allowed to possess up to one ounce of marijuana or 5 grams of concentrate outside of their residence, and it is technically legal to purchase it from dispensaries, though at the time of bid, no dispensaries are yet open. It is illegal to publicly smoke marijuana in Massachusetts, but legal to do so on one’s own property.

  • How about cigarette smoking?

You may not smoke inside the venue, and the Holiday Inn Boston-Brookline is a smoke-free facility.

  • And vaping?

Vaping is not permitted in Brighton Music Hall, or in the Holiday Inn Boston-Brookline.

  • How do I contact you if I have other questions, or just want to send you cute photos of my pets?

We can be reached at c25committee@gmail.com. Bring it!
